Glass Bead Easter Bunny Ornaments ~ Craft Project Kit Assembly Tutorial

Create a tiny bunny ornament to add to your Easter tree! These beaded bunnies feature whimsical hand-painted faces and dapper beaded bow ties.  Completed ornaments measure just 2" to 2-1/4" tall, depending on how the ears are positioned.  The illustrated steps below show the assembly of a project kit.

Each kit contains all necessary materials: beads, wire and a wooden piece.  You will also need a pair of scissors.

Supplies to make 1 ornament:

1 Bunny project kit (kit contains beads, wire and a wooden piece)

Scissors

Step 1: We begin with the bunny's tail and paws.  Uncoil length of wire.  Cut a piece approximately 12" long.  String the tail bead onto the wire and slide it to the center of the wire.  Bend wires closely around bead and twist once above the bead.

Step 2: Thread one paw bead onto the first wire.  Bend the wire back closely along the bead, then twist the wire around between the paw and tail beads.  Repeat for the second paw bead.

Step 3: Bend both wires upward.

Step 4: Thread on the body, head and rocaille bead over both wires.

Step 5: Form a loop at the ends of the wires by wrapping the wires around the wooden piece and then around themselves twice to secure.  Trim away the excess wire.

Step 6: Now we will work on the bow tie.  Cut an 8" piece of wire and thread on 3 bow beads.  Form a triangle and twist the wires together once.

Step 7: Attach this half bow to the bunny by wrapping the wires around between the head and body beads.

Step 8: To complete the bow, thread 1 bow bead on the top wire and two bow beads on the lower wire.

Step 9: Form a triangle and twist the wires together twice to secure.  Trim away excess wire.

Step 10: Gently bend wire twist down to hide it behind the bow.

Step 11: Next we form the ears.  Cut an 8 piece of wire and thread one ear bead in the middle. Bend the wire closely along the bead then twist once to secure at the narrow end.

Step 12: Attach the ear to the bunny by wrapping the wires around between the rocaille and head beads.

Step 13: Trim one of the wires to about 3/8".

Step 14: With the narrow end down, thread the second ear bead onto both wires, hiding the shortened wire inside the bead.

Step 15: Bend the long wire closely along the bead and twist it at the narrow end of the bead to secure.  Trim away excess wire.

Step 16: Adjust and straighten your bunny as needed and display proudly!

Tips and Notes:

-- Project kits have instruction sheets -- the instructions are in Czech but the images are easy to follow.

-- Be mindful of keeping your wire work orderly: not so tight that beads are stressed and break but not so loose that the ornament has poor form.
